As you all are aware, there is a bike lane for bike ride on our highway. Though it is helpful in most of the place to avoid big motor vehicles, it cannot be relied completely.

During a recent visit, as a lead of the group, I was driving on the bike lane at a steady pace. Unfortunately, the bike lane cut off abruptly I was about to skid into the dirt and gravels. I was able to cut-off and switch to main road at the last minute. However, the biker behind me didn’t have much reaction time. As a result, the bike tripped. Luckily biker jumped off the road avoiding scratches while crash guard saved the bike.

I was lucky too as there was no lane when I switched to the main lane. If there had been a speedy vehicle either on the side or behind, it could have been dangerous.

Touchwood, nothing happened during our bike ride.

So, always maintain slow speed when you use bike lane on Indian roads.
