Krishnagiri Reservoir (KRP Dam) situated 7 km outside Krishnagiri town, halts and regulates the flow of the Thenpennai river. Located between Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri, KRP Dam provides drinking water for Krishnagiri and irrigates thousands of acres of surrounding farmland.
This dam have park around 50 Acre land area either side being decked with beautiful flower gardens children playing equipment.The gardens offer a spot of tranquillity far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The park opens at 8am and closes at 5pm.
Krishnagiri Fort is one of the strongest forts in the Krishnagiri district and is now one of the monuments protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. The fort was built by King Krishnadevarayar of the Vijayanagar Empire. For this reason, the town and the fort got the name Krishnagiri ("Krishna" from the king’s name, "giri" meaning hill).
With a tropical climate, the region in and around Krishnagiri experiences moderate summers and mild winters. Therefore, it can be visited anytime during a year.
