There is an inexplicable sense of freedom that comes with riding a motorcycle, combined with the exhilarating experience of exploring new horizons. The Knight Ryders recently embarked on such an unforgettable journey to Varkala, a captivating tourist destination in the state of Kerala. The Knights have experienced numerous adventures together, but with 720 kms, the ride to Varkala would be longest yet in a single day.
Day 1: Onward Ride
As usual with any ride, anticipation and excitement filled the air as we met at the crack of dawn, fully geared up, and set off on our steel horses. We were ready to conquer the road, bound by a common love for the thrill of motorcycle riding. With every twist and turn, the essence of group riding became palpable – a sense of camaraderie and pure joy that only fellow riders can understand. As we cruised through winding roads we not only bonded as a group but also created cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Arriving at our serene accommodation nestled within a lush coconut farm by a private beach, we knew we had found our haven. The picturesque surroundings served as a perfect setting to unwind and recharge for the thrilling days ahead.
Day 2: Varkala Cliff
After a well-earned night’s sleep, the day started with a sumptuous Kerala breakfast. With Varkala offering an abundance of attractions, we set out to unravel its treasures.
Our first stop was Kappil Beach, a beautiful beach-backwater destination, which was very close to our stay. A drive through Kappil is incredibly scenic. The road is bordered by the mesmerizing azure blue of the Arabian Sea on one side, while the tranquil waters of Edava Lake grace the other. The swaying coconut palm groves, golden sandy beaches, and protective rocks that line the shores create a perfect beach destination.
Came evening, we set out to explore the Varkala Cliff. Ascending the Cliff, we were greeted with a stunning view of the Arabian Sea and the bustling cliff-top bazaar. Here, we indulged in local delicacies, had lot of fun and shopped for souvenirs, immersing ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere.
Day 3: Jatayu & Mangroove Kayakking
The day started with a ride to Jatayu Earth’s Centre, an awe-inspiring sculpture located on a hilltop. The rope way to the top of the hill offered an awesome bird’s eye view of the scenic landscape. Standing tall, the Jatayu sculpture depicting the legendary bird ‘Jatayu’ from Hindu mythology, left us mesmerized by its magnificent presence and panoramic views of the surroundings.
The day ended with a Kayaking trip through the backwaters amidst a lush mangrove forest, an unforgettable experience. As we maneuvered our way through the narrow channels, the sights and sounds of the mangrove ecosystem enveloped us, creating a sense of awe and wonder. The trip ended with the stunning view of the sunset casting its mesmerizing glow over the tranquil waters, leaving us in awe. Although the 5 km kayaking took its toll on the body, the thrill and enjoyment we felt were unmatched.
Day 4: Return Ride
As the sun began to set on our adventure, exhaustion crept in, and our bodies yearned for rest. Nevertheless, the fatigue was insignificant compared to the overwhelming joy, laughter, and the pleasure that comes with a motorcycle ride and the lifelong friendships formed through group adventures.
Beyond the picturesque landscapes and thrilling adventures, it was the unmistakable bond between our group that made this trip truly remarkable. As we bid Varkala farewell, we couldn’t help but yearn for the next adventure, where we would once again embrace the wind in our faces and the exhilarating freedom of the ride.
