Happiness is different for each and every individual. Happiness is when you do something out of love and passion.
What happiness is to:
“Mom – her child’s smile”
“Child – his mom’s affection”
“Father – his child being successful, making progress and achieving his dreams”
“Traveller – exploring places”
“Biker – I am happier when I ride”
Yes, for me also happiness is when I ride with my fellow riders of The Knight Ryders club.
Happiness also comes when you achieve certain milestones which demonstrates a measure of success indicating progress in the right path and motivate you to pursue further towards your objectives.
The Club has so far hosted 49 rides and clocked 24,900kms. To celebrate one such joyous occasion of the official 50th ride and riding 25,000 kms together, we gathered at Dalchini in Chrompet for dinner and cake cutting followed by ride to Puducherry in the late night for a cup of tea. Most of us had been to Puducherry on various occasions. This type of ride, in the night with fellow riders, for a cup of tea at 150kms away from Chennai might seem crazy to people. The joy of such moments can’t be explained but can be experienced and felt only. Happiness can be found through craziness too.
The environment was electric with the upbeat mood of the Knights who enjoyed the dinner and the cake cutting to mark the achievement of the milestones. Honda BigWing (KUN) being one of the biggest supporter of the Club’s activities and group rides also participated in the event and gifted a memento to commemorate the achievement.
Around 10PM, split into two groups, with Captain Ramesh and Bart Balaji leading each group, 20 Knights started their night ride to Puducherry through the labyrinth slow moving traffic on the national highway due to the long holidays. It is challenging to ride with less visibility during the night but the advantage was the pleasant weather particularly during summer times. Once you move away from the traffic and hit the free roads, the ride becomes thoroughly enjoyable. The body, mind and the machine were synchronized during the ride, with the thud of the exhaust note of 20 bikes echoing in the night was a music to the ears and therapy for the soul.
At the tea breaks during the ride, the members make the break more enjoyable with their wit, jokes and timely come backs. You feel refreshed and don’t mind travelling the distance with these guys. It’s true that ‘no road is too long when you have good company’. Finally, after riding for 2 ½ hours we reached the city which was in deep slumber. We enquired and started looking for a tea shop around as the usual ones were closed already. People were surprised to see 20 bikers from Chennai, enquiring for a tea shop in the odd hours of night. We were also stopped by the patrol cops who were curios to know whey we travelled all the way from Chennai to Puducherry for a tea and when we explained, they were dumbfounded about our passion for biking.
After a refreshing cup of tea and a relaxing break, we started our return journey to Chennai. The return journey was equally pleasurable cruising through the highway with the company of the fellow riders. Finally, we reached outskirts of Chennai by 4PM covering a distance of nearly 300kms in approx. 6hours.
In the final tea break, seeing the huge number of bikes, the highway road safety patrol team stopped to inquire about the gathering. While we were explaining about the bike ride, another vehicle arrived, in which the inspector in-charge of the highway road safety patrol was travelling. By the serious look of the inspector, I was anticipating a huge lecture at that point in time. He started inquiring and we explained about the ride, the safety aspects followed during the ride which is the utmost priority. He was pleasantly surprised to know that people coming from different walks of life were bonded together due to the passion for riding. He also inspected some of the safety gears like helmet, jacket etc. used by the riders. He seems to have enjoyed some of the witty comments by the riders during the interaction. In the end, he waved us good bye and asked us to be responsible and safe during the rides which we promised to continue doing so. I felt that we left a positive impression about group bike riding in that short interaction with them.
– With that good feeling, adios amigos till we meet for another ride and another experience.

The Header says LEAVE A REPLY….but today i am Sharing something with you guys….
I have been riding after I graduated. bought different kind of bikes, all were just the same usual thing, Office, home, market …. i was just a normal commuter…. met with few accident broke few bones …. but still riding was just like a necessity, nothing more than that. Time just flew past and i reached my early 50’s ….started greying …but still somewhere inside me I was looking for a life to live.
My passion for riding was already halfway to the grave. When the day came and i saw the beast. No second thought, just went for it. Still i was missing something, what could it be? Guys it was the devil’s I met …. they call themselves “The Knight Riders”🔥 the experience and the satisfaction you get after riding with them is like gulping down a full bottle of Tequila and still you stand tall.
Saw the brotherhood in them
…. today I learnt to ride after 30 years of riding.
…. today i over came my fear for speed.
…. today I learnt road safety and discipline.
…. today i got good friends (who care for you 24×7).
….. today i call myself a rider. Every ride with these dare Devils is a lesson.
…. today i am ready to die young , as late as possible.
I am reborn as Mama Kutty
