Apart from being a passionate biking group, one of the key objectives of The Knight Ryders (TKR) is “We believe in giving back to the environment and society. Apart from following the social norms, we consider all things and working on ways to make a better tomorrow

To demonstrate our commitment, it was one of the important day for ‘The Knight Ryders’ as 75 riders assembled on the grounds of Don Bosco School in Vyasarpadi, Chennai on 7 August 2022 at 6:30 AM to celebrate the 75th independence day (‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’) along with the children, students and elderly people.

A beautiful morning with pleasant weather welcomed as The Knight Ryders reached the venue.  After a quick assembly, the program started as scheduled with brief welcome by Father and Captain followed by singing of தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்து.

A group of elderly people hoisted the flag.  It was a mesmerising feeling to witness the flag hoisting and singing the national anthem in unison with the group.  The environment was electric and filled with patriotism.   I was taken back to my school days when we used to attend the drill for morning prayers and flag hoisting. It was so nostalgic.

The prominent members of the day, (Bala Kadaswamy, Sriram Manoharan and Vivek Rajagopal) shared their personal experience to motivate the younger generation and presented some valuable advice.  It was interesting to listen to their success stories which will surely inspire and motivate many more people.  Sriram Manoharan and Bala Kandaswamy stood tall by offering confirmed job opportunities in to students on completing their education, which is definitely going to change many lives and send a strong message that ‘The Knight Ryders’ are always there to help and support the students to achieve their dreams.

This is evidence of real heroes living amongst us.  It was a special moment for all of us.

TKR team distributed books and Contus donated two computers to the institution for students use.  TKR also pledged their support to the institution for carrying out civil repair works. Representatives of KUN BigWing South also gave monetary contribution to the institution.

A group of students charmed the audience with their ‘silambam’ skills which was followed by a beautiful dance performance by the juniors.  The event formally ended with a thanks note by Captain.  There was a surprise announcement that the kids will be offered a bike ride within the premises by TKR members.

It was such a nice to see kids hoping on and off bikes and enjoying the moment.

I remembered one important திருக்குறள் at this moment.

(Trans: Give to the poor and live with praise. There is no greater profit to man than that.)

After the inspiring set of events, it was time to enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast arranged for all by TKR.

People say that ‘All good things come to an end’, however, it was beginning of a new chapter in TKR’s commitment and responsibility towards the community.

Biking was a common interest that united us but the commitment we showed to-day sealed that bond forever and showed that we can rise above occasion in fulfilling our responsibilities towards the community.  Kudos to the TKR family for arranging such an inspiring event and the members who were present and supported the younger generation to realise their dream.   This post will not be complete without a special mention about the visionary core members and the sponsors who ensured the success of the event.

Adios Amigos till next event (HaKuNaMaTaTa)
