A dream…“rather a life-changing experience, filled with emotions and sentiments”
Before writing this only one word, I have to express about 7th August 2022 “What a day it was”
“The Knight Ryders” planned for a big event to celebrate the 75th Independence Day. All the club members are excited, why because the plan is to ride with 75 HONDA CB 350 Bikes in unison to a school in Chennai.
The event planning initiated by the captain with core club members, and published in website and different WhatsApp groups. The response was amazing from various CB-350 owners in the Chennai region as well as from other part of Tamil Nadu and some from other states too.. 🙂
Because of large participation, the group was split-up to small batched of 10 to 15 riders and planned to start from different locations in Chennai. Each group assigned with leads from Knights to coordinate with riders.
Now the twist in the event,…..Yes it is about the “destination. “
It is not an ordinary school, now you may be thinking what the specialty for a school is………
The students in the school are the “kids of god”…do not call them orphans…
Life becomes more meaningful when you encounter less privileged people.
I am having the responsibility to lead Sholinganallur group riders. With 11 riders, Mr. Abbas in lead, Mr. Rajapandain as tail and myself as Sweep and our group started in front of Aditya yoga centre, Sholinganallur at 5.20am via Guindy to Don Bosco Beatitudes Social Welfare Centre, Vyasarpady
At the destination, Knights; Vardan, Jiju, Balaji, Bala, and Captain Ramesh were eagerly waiting to receive the group of riders.
We were the first group to reach the destination and one behind another all groups assembled at the entrance of Don Bosco Welfare center.
A T-shirt engraved 75th Independence day celebration with 75 riders sponsored by M/s Contus was distributed to all the riders. After wearing the T-shirts the massive group of 75 riders started heading to the School ground which was a magnificent view and captured brilliantly by Vardan and Balaji through Drone and Insta-360.
The kids were assembled in the ground to receive us, the glitter in their eyes were remarkable.
The Independence Day Celebration with Kids commenced after a short Tea break. After school prayer, welcome address given by Rev. Fr. Joe Andrew and Knights Captain Ramesh.
“The Tricolour is the symbol of National unity. Let us stand together for eternity, undivided and unconquered, because we have patriotism in our spirits”.
The proud tri-colour Indian National flag hoisted by the respected senior members of Don Bosco Old age Home followed by the national anthem.
Thereafter an energetic child of 5th standard gave a speech about independence day and freedom fighters. He was such confident and impressive in his words.
Next program was the most impressive inspirational talk by the club member Shri. Bala, CEO & Head of products and Shri. Sriram, MD and Chairman of M/s CONTUS Support Interactive (P) Ltd, Chennai.
The speech based on their childhood life to the present achievement through various life hurdles was inspirational and gave tons of positive energy to the kids. They ensured job opportunity at CONTUS to the graduation students from the orphanage also.
Another club member Shri. Vivek, a software entrepreneur also give brief description about bike riding, importance of study for the future development and awareness of increasing drug usage among youth and its consequences.
“One of the greatest gifts adults can give—to their offspring and to their society—is to read to children”. —Carl Sagan.
Therefore, donated books to all kids to improve their habit of reading.
The Team CONTUS gifted two computers for the school office and kids educational purpose.
Also The Knight Ryders taken up the necessary maintenance activity to ensure the smooth functioning the orphanage and old age home.
Presented shawl to Rev. Fr. Joe Andrew, Sri. Bala, Sri. Sriram and Sri. Vivek to honour them on and behalf of The Knight Ryders.
Handed over the stage to the school kids for the Cultural program.
“Silambam Dance”; Tamil Nadu, the home state of this ancient martial art. Through graceful movements, both boys and girls showed that Silambam is much more than a martial art practised for self-defence.
“Patriotic Dance “performed by the boys were stunning and audience were excited.
“Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work”. By Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
During vote of thanks from the inmates of orphanage, one young energetic boy who was a 2nd year engineering student; talked about how motivational speakers advised the kids “you should have dream and work hard to achieve it”. From this inspiration, he was thrilled and shared his dream that “he wanted to watch the earth from outer space”. Hope his dream come to true soon.
All of us were about to disperse after having breakfast together with school kids and old age home inmates. Rev. Fr. Joe Andrew made a sudden announcement to the children that if any kid have interested to go for a ride in the school ground as pillion, then TKR will fulfil such wish.
That was the moment makes the whole children assembled much cheerier. Just after that announcement, they started running towards each bikers who had already start going around the ground.
I was about to complete my 4th round and slow down the bike for parking, a small kid of nearly 6 year aged rushed towards me with a query “ annaa …, can you take me for a round..?” I told him to sit behind as pillion.. all of a sudden another kid older than him came and pulled him back and asked me to go take him for a round ..
The face of the little one goes dark and whispered “I still didn’t get any single round, always I am pulled back”.
I stopped my vehicle, called him back, and said him to sit in the front. He was jumping from ground to the bike. From his heartbeat, I can feel the amount of joy. That was the most heart touching moment, that time I remember my daughter, she also is of almost similar age. As she always, want to sit in front of bike and do turning indicator, press horn, watching speedo meter etc…
May be that was the kid’s first time to sit on a bike, but cannot express my feelings in words.
Meantime breakfast was served for all all. We dispersed around 11 am and came back to home.
Your greatest contribution to the world may not be something you did, but someone you raised. Be a helping hand.
